Methley United’s newly-formed open age side made a promising start to life in the Wakefield Saturday League’s Division Three, drawing 3-3 at home to Snydale Athletic Reserves.

United rewarded main sponsors J&M Northern by showing plenty of resilience in twice battling back from a two-goal deficit, firstly with a well-taken strike by Jamie Green.

Snydale then made it 3-1, hitting the back of the net from a corner, but never-say-die Methley duly levelled in the last 15 minutes.

Andy Griggs launched the revival, beating three men before scoring from 15 yards and, deep into injury-time, man of the match Adam Setterington slammed home the equaliser from a Green cross to spark justified celebrations at United’s Methley WMC’s base.
