Pontefract Collieries slipped down the Toolstation NCE Division One table after a first league defeat of the season at home to Worsbrough Bridge.
Colls missed several early chances and then failed to make the most of their pace up front as the game remained goalless up to the interval before second half efforts by Brad Kerr and Mark Kokot clinched the points for the visitors.
Ponte are back in action at home to Hallam tonight before a quick return with Worsbrough, away this time, offers a chance of revenge in a first qualifying round tie in the FA Vase taking place this Sunday (3pm).
Following Saturday’s lacklustre performance the Ponte management team have moved quickly to strengthen their squad, completing the signing of attacking midfield player Iwan Heeley from Albion Sports.
Subject to confirmation of his registration by the league, Heeley will be in the squad for the game with Hallam.
Joint manager Duncan Bray said: “We are delighted to be able to sign Iwan. He will bring additional quality to the squad.
“Hopefully we should be adding a couple of other new faces in the very near future’.
Heeley previously played for Hemsworth Miners Welfare and Bradford Park Avenue.
