Pontefract Collieries made a great start to their Toolstation NCE Division One campaign with a 3-0 home win over Winterton Rangers.

They were given a flying start when striker Kingsley Wetherald struck after just two minutes. Andy Catton made it two five minutes into the second half and new signing Tom Copping sealed the victory with an effort from a corner on 70 minutes.

Colls were in action at Shirebrook Town on Tuesday night when they brought back a point from a 1-1 draw, Catton netting in the second half after they trailed at the break.

Pontefract travel to the north east this Saturday when they take on North Shields in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup (kick-off 3pm). They return home to host Dronfield Town in the league cup next Wednesday (7.45pm).
