St Joseph’s under 12s triumphed in their own gala, held in Pontefract.

They entered two teams and it was the Greens who took the honours after beating the Blues along the way.

St Joseph’s Blues started well, winning their first two games and drawing the third. The Greens were unlucky to lose 2-0 to a good Clifton Rangers team in their first game, but they improved with every match and made it through their group in third place.

With the Blues finishing second in their group it meant the two St Joe’s team would meet in the quarter-finals and after a great game the Greens advanced 1-0.

They then faced South Kirkby Knights in the semi-finals and moved the ball well to run out 5-0 winners.

The final saw St Joseph’s up against Clifton Rangers and they made a great start, going ahead after only three minutes.

A great chance to extend the lead went begging when a penalty hit the crossbar and the Rangers keeper managed to gather the ball. But in a second half that followed the same pattern St Joe’s clinched victory with a second goal.
