Pontefract Collieries go into this Saturday’s derby game with Glasshoughton Welfare on a run of four straight victories following another success in Division One of the Toolstation NCE League last Saturday.

Craig Parry’s men made it seven games unbeaten as they came from behind to beat 10-man Selby Town 4-1 at the Harratts Nissan Stadium.

All the home goals came in the second half after they were held at bay in the opening 45 minutes by their near neighbours.

It was Selby who broke the deadlock on 36 minutes with Craig Tonkinson netting to give the visitors a half-time lead and they looked on course for a surprise win that would have given them the double over Collieries after they beat them 3-1 in the first meeting this season back in September.

Town are a capable side, but they were swept away after the break as Colls got their attacking game going to score three goals in 10 minutes.

First it was Kane Reece on target on 55 minutes then Chris Wood made it 2-1 before adding a penalty for his 18th goal of the season to have the hosts in charge.

Selby survived further pressure, but the points were safely in Pontefract’s grasp when Jordan Turner scored their fourth goal in the 90th minute.

The victory kept Colls in third place, right on the heels of top two AFC Emley and Penistone Church who are two points and one respectively above them.

Pontefract make the short journey to Glasshoughton Welfare this Saturday when they will be looking to do the double over their neighbours.

They also face two more away games before the end of the year as they go to Rossington Main on Saturday week and promotion rivals Hallam on Boxing Day.

Pontefract Collieries are hosting their first Christmas football camp for children aged from four to 11.

It takes place at the Beechnut Lane-based ground on Monday, December 19 and Wednesday, December 21, 10am to 3pm each day. Cost is £10 a day with youngsters, boys and girls, given the experience of what life would be like as a professional footballer for a couple of days.
