Kippax suffered their first defeat of the season in Division Two of the Wetherby League when they went down by six wickets to Thorner Mexborough.

A disappointing batting performance was at the heart of the defeat as despite Museji Bhoola and Zuber Patel coming up with 71 runs between them the rest of the batsmen could only muster a further 34 runs with Kippax all out for 105 as they went in first.

They initially looked set for a decent score as opener Wasim Patel hit 13 and Bhoola 36, but ducks for Aamir Malik, James Goodall and John Henshaw in the middle order swung the game Thorner’s way. Although Zuber Patel, at number seven, hit 35 none of the other remaining batsmen could reach double figures.

Thorner comfortably reached the target set with Malik (2-29) the pick of Kippax’s bowlers.

Ledsham went down to their second loss in two matches since promotion to Division One as they were beaten by 97 runs at Scarcroft.

They were left with too much to do after Scarcroft batted first and posted a 242-7 score. In reply Ledsham were all out for 145.

Ledsham A gave the club some cheer with their first win in Division Four as they defeated Hillam & Monk Fryston A by 60 runs.

Chris Woodall, with 49 runs and 3-11, and Thomas Delmont, 38 and 3-33, were the stars as Ledsham made 176-5 then kept Hillam to 116.

Kippax Welfare A lost by seven wickets to South Milford A in Division Four after making 146-7 with Stephen Henshaw (44) top scoring.
