Leeds United duo put on transfer list

LEEDS United players Robbie Rogers and Danny Pugh have been put on the transfer list in a surprise move by manager Neil Warnock.

The Whites boss is desperate to raise more money to enable him to continue his rebuilding of the first team squad and wants to move on players to free up funds to bring in another striker for the new season.

Winger Rogers and utility man Pugh have joined Billy Paynter, Paul Rachubka, Paul Connolly and Ramon Nunez in being available for transfer.

Warnock explained: “You have to look at what you can do.

“We’re looking at forward players and it might be that we have to move one or two on, so we’re going to circulate the names of Robbie Rogers and Pughy on the transfer list.

“I’ve had a chat with both of them. In Pughy’s case he’s had a good pre-season and he’s a bit unlucky, but in the areas I think he’s good in I don’t think he’ll get much of a look in.

“He needs to be playing games. It’s not closing the door, but if we can generate some income it helps me with priority positions.”

Pugh rejoined the club last season from Stoke and was a first team regular at left-back and midfield while American international Rogers was signed last season, but was hit by injury.

Warnock added: “If we could get a striker who could play wide-right that would be the ideal scenario.

“We’ve got the majority of our squad but we’re still looking because I think we’re a couple short.

“But we’re a lot happier and a lot healthier than we were three or four weeks ago and if Snodgrass was still here then I’d be delighted with the squad.”
