LEEDS United’s planning for the season ahead begins in earnest tomorrow when players report back for training at Thorp Arch.

A number of players have already reported back ahead of the official start of pre-season training and manager Neil Warnock will get straight down to work, although he will be hoping to add more to the ranks with signings due in the next few days.

Several transfer-listed players will also be back in for training, having not gone anywhere yet while last season’s skipper Robert Snodgrass, now said to be interesting Aston Villa since the appointment of manager Paul Lambert, also returns from his summer off with Warnock having a decision to make on a player with just one year left on his United contract.

Warnock said:”Lads look after themselves nowadays and so they should. It’s a different ball game to what it used to be.

“We’ll look to have a good week’s training before we start with the game at Farsley.

“We’ll have a good week away, down in Cornwall, and we’ll have a vast amount of fans down there to watch our games and an open training session, probably on the Tuesday.

“It’s just a week where we train morning and afternoon and play games at night.

“Although the games are important the results are unimportant because you won’t be relaxing like you do in a session with all the training. The game are just another fitness session. I also think being away bonds the lads very well.”

The all-ticket Farsley game on Friday, July 20, is the first of the pre-season matches and the United squad will then head for Cornwall for a week-long stay in the south west, playing three games against Tavistock, Bodmin and Torquay United, with the latter match sold out to Leeds United supporters already with over 2,000 making the trip to Plainmoor.
