National Conference League Premier Division club Lock Lane have appointed Paul Couch as new head coach.

Couch, who has been at the club for 20 years, succeeds Martin Rowse who has joined Hunslet Warriors.

Couch was Rowse’s assistant and he has also been head coach of Castleford Tigers under 16s Scholarship and also the Tigers under 19s assistant coach.

Couch said: “I am looking forward to the challenge ahead. I feel the time is right to step up and build on the good year that the club had last season and to continue to work on the great foundations already in place.”

Club chairman Mick Wildey said: “We are looking to build on the progress of the last four years under Martin Rowse. The excellent achievements and infrastructure we have in place mean that under new coach Paul we can kick-on into the new season.”
