Caitlin wins at Sheffield with personal best jump

Caitlin Howes of Pontefract Athletics Club won the under 13 girls long jump at Saturday’s Northern Athletics Indoor Open Meeting at Sheffield with a personal best of 3.78 metres.

Caitlin (pictured) also produced a personal best in the shot putt with 5.71 metres.

Despite being in his first year in the under 15 boys age group, Luke Shillito won the shot putt with 7.68 metres and Cameron Howes, now in the under 17 men’s age group, turned in another good performance in the high jump with 1.70 metres.

Will Carter set a club record in the senior men’s 60 metres hurdles with 11.42 seconds and he also recorded 5.56 metres in the long jump.

Jack Mattison clocked 8.68 seconds in the under 15 boys 60 metres and 21.21 in the 150 metres.

In the under 13 boys events, Callum Eastwood recorded 9.40 seconds in the 60 metres and 23.64 in the 150 metres.

In the Barnsley 10K road race, David Kidd was the Pontefract club’s first finisher in 38 minutes 27 seconds.

Scott Daly was not far behind him with 38-50 and Christine McCarthy had a good run to finish in 44-14.
