PONTEFRACT Athletics Club’s Will Dagger was in superb form at the Northern Athletics indoor open meeting at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffied on Saturday, winning two events and finishing second overall in his third event.
Dagger (pictured right) started with a convincing victory in the under 15 boys 60 metres hurdles, setting a club record of 8.90 seconds.
He also won the 60 metres sprint, setting another club record with 7.64 seconds.
In his third event, the 150 metres, despite a slight stumble as he came down the slope off the last bend in the outside lane, he won his heat and was the second quickest overall in 17.97 seconds. This earned him his third club record of the day.
Kye Evans also competed in the under 15 boys 60 metres and 150 metres and he ran well to finish in 8.24 and 19.21 seconds respectively.
Also competing in the under 15 boys age group, Lewis Schofield clocked 10.86 seconds for the 60 metres hurdles. He recorded a personal best of 7.14 metres in the shot putt to finish a respectable fourth and he cleared 4.19 metres in the long jump.
Will Carter recorded a personal best in the under 17 men’s shot putt with 8.41 metres. He also cleared 1.40 metres in the high jump and clocked 8.36 seconds in the 60 metres.
Maria Schofield set a club record of 11.92 seconds in the under 13 girls 60 metres hurdles. She also did well in the shot putt, finishing second with 6.69 metres, and she cleared 3.60 metres in the long jump.
