Colin Finney won Fryston Angling Club’s match on Burger Lake at Swanland Fishery, Thorne.

There were large catches to be had but only if anglers drew the right peg.

Finney made the best of his plum draw, floating biscuits from the end of the spit on peg eight to land the biggest match weight so far this year of 166lb 6oz.

Keeping it in the family, Daz Finney landed 121lb 2oz from spit peg 10 using identical tactics to take second place.

Ray Evans put 105lb 4oz on the scales from a very ordinary looking peg 24 to take third.

D Lumb and S Varley won their respective sections with 56lb 15oz and 39lb 11oz.

E Hirst pulled his own number out to win the silver peg prize.

Meanwhile, Terry Bullas landed a 72lb 5oz catch on paste to win the regular Saturday open match at Pollington’s Viking Fishery.

Second was Andy Thornton of Pontefract with 54lb 11oz. Paul Smith was third with 44lb 1oz and Tommy Davis fourth with 42lb 8oz.

On Sunday, Alan Bickerdike won the Rothwell Angling Society match on Deer pond with 46lb 2oz, J Murray won the Colton AC match on Hawk with 35lb 11oz and Steve Curtis won the Rowland Road match, also on Hawk pond, with a catch of 42lb.
