GARETH Gill lifted the John Tether Memorial Trophy with a winning catch of 153lb 3oz in Fryston Angling Club’s match at Wholsea Grange Fishery, Holme-on-Spalding-Moor, near York, on Sunday.

Gill and his travelling partner Ray Evans, who finished second with 141lb 5oz, dominated the match by fishing superbly in testing conditions.

Section winners were Shaun Lupton (79lb 13oz) and Dave Lumb (85lb 3oz).

Selby angler Colin Smart won Saturday’s open match on Hawk pond at Pollington’s Viking Fishery with 87lb 12oz.

Tony Foster was second with 66lb 11oz, Tony Reeves third with 64lb 3oz and Gary Clayton fourth with 61lb.

On Deer pond the Plough AC (Rotherham) match was won by A Lofthouse with 87lb 8oz. D Clarkson was second with 43 lb and M Wormley third with 42 lb 6 oz.

On Sunday, T Baldwin won the Merlin AC match on Deer pond with 167lb 8 z.

D Coote was second with 147 lb 8oz, A Jackson third with 122 lb 2oz and W Shefton fourth with 84lb 4oz.

D Parker won the Harehills WMC Hawk pond match with 112lb.

C Dunne was second with 99 lb 3oz, D Robinson third with 76lb 10oz and D Hampshire fourth with 70lb 4oz.
