CASTLEFORD long distance athlete Christopher Price (pictured) has won the Wakefield Lord Major Jubilee Cup for a record equalling third time.
Competing in the Wakefield 10,000m road race, Price warmed up for the 2012 track and field season with an encouraging display to add to his two previous victories in 2007 and 2009.
He said: ‘I wanted to win the trophy, the race tactics were all about this. I am not in good enough condition to run a fast 10,000m at the moment because my focus is running shorter distances on the track, but I ran smartly and managed to use my experience to do enough to win.
“I will run a 10,000m again this year and will go for a new personal best, but at the moment I am trying to qualify for the University Championships at the Olympic Stadium, in London. This is the focus and I want to run as well as I can.”
Price will race in a 2,000m steeplechase at RAF Cosford in an attempt to book his place in the BUCS Championships in early May.
