Isabelle Stones of Pontefract Athletics Club went to the top of the individual points table in the under 11 girls age group after the second West Yorkshire Track and Field League meeting at Wakefield last Wednesday.
Isabelle finished second in the 75 metres in 12.15 seconds and second in the shot putt with 3.95 metres.
Abigail Clegg finished sixth in the under 11 girls 75 metres in 12.54 seconds.
Maria Schofield (pictured) came second in the under 13 girls shot putt, achieving an England Athletics grade three standard with 7.49 metres.
Cara Middleton was fourth in the same event with 6.63 metres, which is a grade four standard.
In the under 13 boys events, Cameron Howes set a club record of 22.75 seconds in the 150 metres. He also produced an impressive performance in the high jump, finishing second with a grade three performance of 1.35 metres.
Callum Brain finished second in the under 15 boys discus with a throw of 21.49 metres. This lifted Callum into third place in the individual points table for under 15 boys. Kye Evans was fourth in the same event with 18.71 metres and Lewis Schofield was fifth with 18.15 metres. Kye Evans also finished fourth in the 200 metres in 26.28 seconds.
Will Carter seems to be improving with every competition and he set a personal best in the under 17 men’s shot putt with 9.09 metres, just six centimetres behind the event winner.
Scott Daly of Pontefract Athletics Club had an excellent run in the Virgin London Marathon, just missing the three hours barrier, but setting a club record for men over 40 with three hours and 18 seconds. Darren Evans also completed the classic 26.2 miles distance in four hours 10 minutes, 4 seconds. In last Sunday’s Kirkbymoorside 10K, Faye Banks finished eighth in the women’s race, clocking 44 minutes 55 seconds on the extremely hilly course.
