PONTEFRACT jockey Adam Carter (pictured) has made a flying start to 2011.

The 23-year-old former Pontefract King’s High School pupil, who is an apprentice jockey to Thirsk trainer Bryan Smart, has already recorded four victories this month.

Last September Carter partnered five-year-old bay gelding Dubai Hills to a second-placed finish at Ayr and since then the partnership has flourished.

After another second place at Ayr followed by a third at Southwell’s all-weather track, Carter and Dubai Hills achieved four successive wins.

Carter recorded another recent win at Wolverhampton when he partnered the John Weymes trained Almaty Express.

Carter attended the Northern Racing College and worked for several trainers before joining Bryan Smart. He is also picking up rides from other trainers as well. PICTURE: BRIAN LUNN
