Teenage Featherstone lad Louis Brown has been selected for the North of England Rugby Union squad after captaining Yorkshire to a win against Cumbria.

Louis, who celebrated his 18th birthday on Wednesday, impressed for the white rose county and went forward to trials when he was up against players from Cheshire, Lancashire, Northumbria, Cumbria and Durham who were all competing for a place in the North squad.

And after a number of successful trials, Louis was selected in the North’s final 23-player squad and played against Newcastle Academy, at Kingston Park last week, in a warm-up game to prepare the team for a national selection game this Sunday that could lead to a call-up to play in the England under 18s.

If successful again, outside back Louis will join the England squad at Loughborough University to prepare for a tour to Ireland where they will play the national sides of Italy, France and Ireland.
