YOUNGSTERS from Pontefract RUFC’s under sevens were out in force last Sunday when the Moor Lane club hosted the British and Irish Cup game between Yorkshire Carnegie and Newport Gwent Dragons.

The club’s under sevens were established at the start of the season and are finding their feet.

Pontefract under sevens and under nines, along with the visiting teams from Sandal under sevens and Old Brodleians under nines, welcomed the Yorkshire and Newport teams onto the pitch, before training and warm ups.

At half-time, the junior players were in action on the field. They all played their hearts out and were a credit to their clubs and their parents.

All the young players were thanked and also their parents for their continued support.

Players from Pontefract’s under 12 and under 13 teams were ball boys at Sunday’s game.

Training for Pontefract under sevens will resume on Sunday, January 8, after the Christmas break. New players will be welcomed.

Pontefract RUFC currently have boys teams at under seven, under nine, under 12 and under 13 and girls teams at under 13 and under 15.
