Emily Plimmer of Pontefract Athletics Club finished second out of 66 runners in the under 11 girls race in the fourth and last West Yorkshire Cross Country League race of the season at Nunroyd Park, Yeadon, on Sunday.

With a victory and two second places from the three previous races, Emily received an award for finishing second overall in the series.

Faye Lightowler, nee Banks, finished 36th out of 100 in the senior ladies race and this enabled Faye to pick up the award for finishing secondnd overall in the series in the ladies over 35 age group.

In Saturday’s Pontefract Park Run, Christine McCarthy was the winner of the ladies race. Christine clocked 21 minutes 54 seconds for the 5K course. Scott Daly finished third overall out of 120 in 19 minutes, three seconds.

In last Saturday’s Northern Athletics Indoor Open Meeting at Sheffield, Jasmine Bate finished second in the under 13 girls 60 metres hurdles, setting a club record of 10.51 seconds. Jasmine also finished third in the high jump with 1.30 metres.

Isabelle Stones finished second in the under 13 girls shot putt with 5.86 metres and Matthew Tam- McMillan came third in the under 13 boys 150 metres in 21.55 seconds. Matthew also clocked 8.90 seconds in the 60 metres. Kye Evans recorded a personal best of 7.86 seconds in the under 17 men’s 60 metres.

Cameron Howes cleared 1.40 metres in the under 15 boys high jump. His father Richard Howes set club records in the men’s over 50 and over 40 age groups with 8.75 seconds in the 60 metres and 11.80 seconds in the 60 metres hurdles. Will Carter also set a club record in the under 20 men’s 300 metres with 41.41 seconds.
