Pontefract athlete Faye maintains excellent form

Faye Lightowler of Pontefract Athletics Club continued her rich vein of form in the third race in this year’s West Yorkshire Cross Country League at Cleckheaton on Sunday.

After finishing fifth and sixth in the first two races, Faye equalled her best finishing position by coming in fifth out of more than 100 runners in the senior women’s race. British international 1,500 metres runner, Charlene Thomas, of Wakefield Harriers, won the race, with Katie Walshaw (Holmfirth Harriers) second and Jennifer Walsh (Wakefield) third.

At the Northern Athletics Track and Field Indoor Open Meeting at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield, Pontefract’s Luke Shillito won the under 15 boys shot putt competition with 6.98 metres.

Will Carter achieved 8.91 metres in the senior men’s shot putt.

He also did 10.91 metres in the triple jump and he clocked a personal best of 19.08 seconds in the 150 metres.

Callum Eastwood clocked 9.65 seconds in the under 13 boys 60 metres and he recorded 3.40 metres in the long jump.
