Alison Boothroyd, this year’s lady captain at Pontefract and District Golf Club, chose the Dementia and Alzheimer’s Society as her chosen charity.

During the year the ladies have held raffles, a golf day and a fashion show by Ann-Marie of Kippax. Kath Leydon-Smith from the Leydon-Smith School of Theatre and Dance in Pontefract, along with the NFU, were kind enough to sponsor the fashion show and many local traders helped for each occasion by donating raffle prizes.

As a result, the ladies have raised £1,750 and last week Jane Appleton from the Wakefield branch of the Dementia and Alzheimer’s Society attended a lunch to receive the cheque.
