Pontefract Squash Club’s James Willstrop faces Borja Golan in the last 16 of the World Championships in Manchester this evening (6pm start).
Former world number one Willstrop has yet to drop a game in the tournament.
The 30-year-old beat English qualifier Joel Hinds 11-4, 11-4, 13-11 in the opening round and then defeated Tom Richards 11-8, 11-3, 11-6 in the second round.
He now takes on Spain’s Golan, the number nine seed.
Pontefract’s unseeded Indian Saurav Ghosal beat improving young Englishman Joe Lee 11-5, 12-10, 11-3 in the opening round.
Ghosal then knocked out number 15 seed Alister Walker 11-7, 11-5, 7-11, 11-7 in the second round.
He faces another unseeded player Henrik Mustonen (Finland) in the last 16 this afternoon (3pm start).
