Pontefract’s annual ‘Singles Night’ meeting next Tuesday evening (May 21) promises to be an evening of fun and flirting.

Racing gets underway at 6.20pm.

The popular ‘Are you interested?’ traffic-light sticker system will be in place for those looking for a kindred spirit in the ‘Love Zone Marquee’, while the appropriately-named Steve Love Band provide the musical entertainment.

Real Radio will be hosting the event for the first time and they’ll be a ‘Singles Bar’ and Dixie’s Dating Disco, along with the opportunity to win spot prizes, such as race tickets, drinks vouchers and £250.

The evening’s racing programme begins with the Real Radio Singles Night Handicap Stakes over one mile, while two-year-olds take part in the feature race, the Youngsters Conditions Stakes over six furlongs, which offers increased prize money of £15,000. This race is sure to attract some precocious juveniles; last year’s winner, Indian Jade (trained at Hambleton in North Yorkshire by Kevin Ryan) went on to finish third in a group one race at Longchamp on ‘Arc’ day in October.

Three-year-olds go to post for The Tony Lewis & Our Best Pal Handicap Stakes over one mile.

The ‘Ponte Racebus’ will be in operation for this meeting and the ‘Postcode Lottery’ £2 promotion for Tuesday evening’s racing concerns those living in the WF8 (Pontefract) area.

There will be a giant screen situated opposite the main stands to assist racegoers.
