PONTEFRACT RUFC lock horns with local rivals Knottingley in an intriguing Yorkshire One fixture at Moor Lane this afternooon (Saturday).
Knottingley go into today’s game (2.15 kick-off) in their best form of the season with three wins from their last four matches which has seen them edge towards safety from relegation.
Pontefract got back to winning ways last time out against North Ribblesdale.
For Pontefract head coach Simon Middleton (pictured) it will be a jog down memory lane as Knottingley were the club where he started his rugby playing career before he went on to star for Castleford Tigers RL team and Leeds Carnegie RU side.
Middleton will be hoping for a repeat of the clubs’ first meeting this season when Pontefract came out on top 40-3 but he will be wary of Knottingley who showed they are a team to be reckoned with at this level when they beat top of the table Bridlington away in their most recent fixture.
Castleford, meanwhile, need points to escape the drop.
They will be looking to get back on the winning trail when host Heath this afternoon (2.15pm).
