CASTLEFORD RUFC have appointed Daniel Price as the club’s new senior player-coach.

Price (pictured) is returning to the club after two seasons at Keighley and brings with him a wealth of playing and coaching experience to bolster the senior ranks after the departure of Andy Wilson, who has been unable to continue with Cas due to personal commitments.

Price has previously been club captain and player-coach, but has played his rugby elsewhere, latterly with Keighley and previously, Sandal, having represented Yorkshire and North of England and Welsh Exiles in his younger days.

He said: “I am delighted to be rejoining Castleford RUFC in the player-coach role. It is a great club with a rich rugby history and I am hoping that my appointment can be the catalyst to take the club back to the good times.

“I have already seen a great response from the players in training and we were unlucky not to win at West Park on Saturday. I am looking forward to working with the senior players and to developing some of the young talent in our junior ranks who have great potential to break into the senior squads.”

Mike Connell, Castleford RUFC’s honorary treasurer, added: “Danny is a great guy and it is a great coup for us as his heart has always been at Castleford and his appointment will help steady the ship. We are sorry to see Andy go, but Danny will fit in straight away and we are hoping that he will provide the necessary impetus to bring about improved performances and results.”
