Whitwood Golf Club’s annual prize-giving attracted an excellent turn out, the highest at the event in recent years.
Numerous trophies were awarded to members for their achievements in a highly-competitive season.
Open competitions, Division One (Tigers) and Division Two (Rabbits) provided the opportunity for players of all abilities to have a go.
Old or young, male or female, weekends or midweek the club takes a pride in offering competitions for everyone and the range of winners reflected that mix.
Father and son Lee and Brian Greatorex won two team competitions, the Leese Pair and Lambert trophies.
Roger Shepherd, Neil East and Bev Flockton all had outstanding years, each winning three trophies.
Sixteen other players won trophies and two special awards went to Claire Blenkin (most improved club player and Ladies Golf Union silver rose spoon winner) and Brian Moss (clubman of the year).
A buffet was provided by the Bridge Inn, Whitwood, in addition to a free overnight stay and meal for two, as a prize for the club draw.
A prize for free membership for next year was won by Mel Brooks who was particularly pleased because his wife is set to become a club member next season.
