SLIDESHOW: Pontefract Athletics Club

Will Carter and Jasmine Bate of Pontefract Athletics Club both set club records in the 50 metres hurdles event at last Thursday’s Wakefield indoor open meeting.

Will came first in the under 20 men’s 50 metres hurdles in 9.1 seconds and Jasmine also recorded 9.1 seconds to finish third in the under 13 girls 50 metres hurdles.

Will also came first in the long jump with 5.27 metres and Jasmine came equal third in the 50 metres in 8.2 seconds along with her club colleague, Isabelle Stones.

Isabelle, just returning after a problem with injured knees, was well down on her best in the long jump, but still finished second with 3.42 metres.

Cameron Howes continued with his good form.

He won the under 15 boys long jump, improving his personal best by 20 centimetres, with 4.68 metres.

Cameron also won the 50 metres hurdles in 9.0 seconds.

Matthew Tam-McMillan came joint first in the under 13 boys 50 metres in 7.8 seconds with Jack Mattison finishing joint third in 7.9 seconds.

Kye Evans and Will Redmond both recorded a very quick 6.7 seconds in the under 17 men’s and under 20 men’s 50 metres respectively.

Other encouraging performances came from Caitlin Howes (3.20 metres in under 11 girls long jump), Rebecca Bell (8.3 seconds in under 13 girls 50 metres) and Zane Tam- McMillan (8.6 seconds in under 11 Boys 50 metres).
