Dave Lumb was the winner when Fryston Angling Club members made their second visit of the season to Swanlands fishery at Thorne on Sunday to fish the usually prolific Burger Lake.
With the weather much improved from the previous week’s washout, the 26 strong turn out expected a good day’s fishing.
Armed with a variety of baits and tactics everyone got to work building their catches throughout the five-hour match.
Lumb took the top honours from peg 22, his net of decent sized carp plus a good net of silver fish totalling 58lb 2oz. Second was Colin Finney with 52lb 6oz and third was Dermot Labedzki with 47lb 7oz.
Section winners were B Copley and S Lupton with 45lb 14oz and 37lb 1oz respectively.
D Barrat won the silver peg draw, The golden peg was not won and again rolls over to next week.
In difficult conditions on Hawk pond at Pollington’s Viking Fishery, Ken Garner landed 85lb 14oz to win a Calder Anglers midweek club match.
Andy Lumb was second with 69lb 8oz and Tony Darson was third with 62lb 4oz.
Dave Sawyer won Saturday’s regular Viking Saturday open match on Hawk pond with 88lb 6oz of small carp caught across to the island on pellets.
Garth Sykes of Knottingley was second with 47lb 12oz, Andy Thornton third with 38lb 8oz and Richard Scott fourth with 28lb 14oz.

Also on Saturday, Ackworth AC were on Deer pond. Kev Hails was the winner with 62lb 6oz. Paul Batty was second with 53lb 8oz, T Reeves third with 50lb 15oz and Sam Nock fourth with 36lb 4oz.
