Steve Varley won Fryston AC’s final winter league match on Fox pond at Pollington’s Viking Fishery with 41lb 3oz.

Steve Birch was second with 32 lb 9 oz, Shaun Lupton third with 25 lb 8 oz and Mark Salmon fourth with 24 lb 1 oz.

Varley was the overall league winner with 142 points. Birch was second with 123, Gareth Gill third with 117 and Ray Evans fourth with 114. The prize for the biggest fish was awarded to Birch for an 11lb 5oz carp.

Saturday’s open match on Hawk Pond at Viking Fishery was again won by the previous week’s winner Danny Nicklas with 71lb 3oz from peg 27 on maggot and pellet.

Luke Hardcastle was second with 59lb 1oz on groundbait method feeder and maggot on the hook. David Playford was third with 25 lb 1oz and Rob Padgett was fourth with 23lb 1oz. This Saturday’s match is on Deer pond. To book a place, ring 01405 860764.

Marshlands held a club match on Deer pond. It was won by Mick Moore with 42 lb 13 oz on bread and corn. Dave Morrit was second with 40 lb 7 oz, Jason Raspin third with 38 lb and Johnny Marshall fourth with 33 lb 14 oz.

On Sunday, Hawk pond again hosted a Rodley Barge match. Winner was Derek Lawson with 74lb 4 oz on sweetcorn. Wayne Barbour was second with 70 lb 10 oz, Geoff Myers third with 67 lb 12 oz and John Harvey fourth with 52 lb.
