Featherstone Weightlifting Club is staging an exhibition on Saturday, August 16 (10am start).
The event will be held in the grounds of the club’s headquarters at the rear of Featherstone Library, off Station Lane.
There will be free admission for the public to watch the event which will be a good advertisement of the sport.
There will be demonstrations from British medallists including Mark Wager and Martyn Riley.
There will also be coaching and analysis from Featherstone club secretary Allan Whitworth who has been a leading coach in the sport for many years.
There will be a raffle with a selection of great prizes including Featherstone Rovers memorabilia.
Proceeds will support local lifter Nick Hall.
Just 18 months after undergoing back surgery that could have paralysed him, Nick has broken eight Northern records and qualified to represent Britain at the British Master Championship in Copenhagen in September.
The event will showcase some outstanding weightlifting.
It will also give members of the public a chance to try out the Olympic sport.
