Handforth is top of the pots

Methley ARLFC players coaches and officials displayed their prowess in darts and pool competitions last weekend.

Committeeman Bart Revell won a darts tournament and head coach Paul Handforth (pictured) saw off all comers at pool as Methley took advantage of the postponement of their home Pennine League Division One fixture with Allerton Bywater to stage a games afternoon at their headquarters at the Top Club.

The Royals are grateful to Reece Willshaw for organising the event and to Sally Wright for providing refreshments.

All Pennine League matches were postponed last weekend as snow and ice took its toll on pitches throughout the area.

Weather permitting, clubs will be hoping to return to action this weekend.

Division One leaders Methley Royals visit Bentley Good Companions in a league fixture on Saturday.

Methley then have two crucial matches in February.

On February 2, they visit Upton in a league game and the following Saturday (February 9) they travel to Pontefract team Nevison Leap in the President’s Cup third round in what has all the makings of an intriguing tie.
