PONTEFRACT Pirates will be among at least 26 teams from throughout the country competing tomorrow (Sunday) in the second 2012 Elite Karting League event at Ellough Park’s outdoor track in Suffolk.

The first event last month at Bayford Meadows in Kent was a great success, with over 100 karters taking part.

Pontefract Pirates will be looking to climb the rankings from their very creditable fourth place.

In round one, brothers Ayrton and Luca Hirst, Robert Newman and Mikey Naylor scored 8.32 points, just 0.8 points behind overall leaders Teamsport Tornadoes from Sussex.

In the driver standings, Ayrton is 15th of 101 drivers and Luca (pictured) is close behind in 17th place.

Tomorrow’s track action will include 12 sprint races, a 12 lap race of champions and two one-hour endurance races.
