Pontefract team Railwaymen defeated Glasshoughton’s Rockin’ Gladiators 102-82 in the Five Towns Quiz League’s Handicap Cup final on Monday night.

Railway started with a handicap of 19 and Gladiators with 30.

The match was close up to the halfway point of round five when the scores, including handicaps, were tied at 60-60.

However, Railwaymen pulled out away in the second half to lift the Handicap Cup for the first time in their long history in only their second appearance in the final.

Railwaymen take on Wanderers, including television Eggheads star Barry Simmons, in the league’s main cup final, the Knockout Cup, at Kippax Ex-Service Club on Monday, June 1.
