FOUR fighters from SYD Ringside Boxing Club, Knottingley, were in outstanding form in recent bouts.
Senior boxers Mark Wood, Dean Hunter and Dave Lockwood competed in a tournament at Hull Trades and Labour Club.
Wood faced a larger and heavier opponent in Nottingham's Chris Irons.
Wood achieved a points victory after dominating with neat combinations and great defensive work.
Fighting Nottingham's Tom Flowers, Hunter had his opponent reeling in the first round with a five-punch combination including three right hands. Flowers refused to come out for the second round and his corner retired him.
Wood has now won all his first three bouts in the first round.
Lockwood gave away a big weight advantage against Danny Morgan.
Lockwood struggled in the first round against a far large opponent but he was a different fighter in the second round after a change of tactics and shook Morgan with some big shots.
Lockwood won on points after giving Morgan an eight count in the final round.
Yorkshire champion Sam McClean (SYD Ringside) fought North West Counties champion Jamie Hopwood (Liverpool) in a tournament in Warrington.
McClean's terrier style give him the upperhand against talented southpaw Hopwood who had lost only two of 14 fights including a previous defeat against the Knottingley fighter.
McClean was deducted two points in the final round for a low head but still won all three rounds in a scrappy contest.
SYD Ringside coaching staff Peter Carragher and Steve Heale paid tribute to all the club's four fighters for their excellent performances.
