Castleford Tigers have announced that they have re-signed prop forward Ryan Boyle from Salford City Reds with Jake Emmitt going the other way.

Boyle, 25, adds to the growing number of homegrown talents in the Tigers first team squad and returns to his boyhood club in a deal until the end of 2014.

Boyle represented the Castleford between 2005 and 2010 before switching to Salford and head coach Ian Millward said that he was thrilled to bring the Cas lad back.

He said: “Ryan lives 10 minutes from the ground and is a local guy that wanted to return.

“We thought having a local boy would be a good bonus for us and he adds a little bit of size. Ryan had to travel three hours a day to get to and from training because he doesn’t have a car, so we believe that he can do more work and improve his game now that he’s closer.

“Jake was keen on moving back to Lancashire to move back with his family. He also has quite a few mates from his St Helens days playing for Salford.

“We thank Jake who leaves on good terms.”

Boyle enjoyed a try scoring debut for the Tigers against Batley Bulldogs in June 2005 and will be hoping for a similar second debut this weekend against Huddersfield Giants.

He has made a total of 100 Super League appearances and featured eight times for Salford City Reds this season.

He has also represented Ireland in 2009 in their European Cup ranking games against Serbia, Wales and Lebanon.
