CASTLEFORD Tigers have given one-year deals to academy players Daniel Holmes and Tom Carroll.
Eighteen-year-old centre Holmes (pictured right) will train with the first team in the close season with a view to earning a permanent full-time place while 19-year-old hooker or stand-off Carroll proved a useful signing for Gary Thornton’s under 20s side having joined from Leeds Rhinos in mid season.
Steve Gill, head of youth development, who is pictured with the two youngsters, said of the signings: “I am pleased that both Daniel and Tom have signed new one-year deals.
“Daniel has been with us for three years and played in all of last season’s pre-season games for the first grade. Unfortunately he suffered a back injury and missed the biggest part of the season. Since his recovery, he has worked really hard and deserves another opportunity to train with the first team.
“Tom covered the hooking role for us at 20s and gave us a lot more width in our game. He is also quite comfortable in the half-back position too so he has proven to be a good acquisition.”
