Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell was delighted with the way his team responded to their first defeat of the season by bouncing back with an emphatic 54-6 win at London Broncos.
After their first setback it was important that the tigers got back to their best and Powell thought they were close to it in the capital and in front of the Sky cameras.
He said: “I thought we played really well. We put them under a lot of pressure and our control of our game was pretty good and they struggled with us.
“Over the 80 minutes it was a pretty complete performance.
“It was disappointing to concede the try at the end, but overall I was really happy.
“We needed to respond to what had happened the week before and I think we did that in a positive way.
“If your team responds in the right way after a performance that you’ve not been happy with then obviously you are delighted with that.”
The win moved Castleford back into second place in the Super League table and they can go top if they win their next game at home to unbeaten leaders St Helens.
“It’s always nice to see where you are in the table, but I prefer to look at the team stats and the way we are going about our business,” added Powell.
“The Opta stuff we’re doing real well in, in terms of all the key stats that you base your teams performance around.
“So we’re pretty pleased at the moment, but the last thing we want to do is to take our foot off the accelerator. We want to keep on improving and there is still a lot of improvement in the team.
“That’s the most impressive thing, there’s still plenty of things we feel like we can improve and develop in our game.
“We are not getting too carried away, but we have got to be pleased with what we have been able to deliver so far.
“It’s about us taking the next step and keep improving. We know there’s some real tough challenges ahead and we’ve got to be able to perform on a consistent basis.”
