CASTLEFORD Tigers under 20s visit Co-operative Championship One club Gateshead Thunder in a re-arranged pre-season match on Sunday (3pm).

The game was originally scheduled for last Sunday but was postponed because of a frozen pitch.

Tigers head of youth development Steve Gill (pictured) said: “All the lads were disappointed last Sunday’s fixture was called off and although we clash with the first-team match at Wakefield this weekend, it is vitally important our under 20s side hit the ground running when we play our first league game at Salford.

“We believe the two friendlies arranged against Gateshead and York are the perfect stepping stone to achieve this.

“On behalf of the under 20s coaches and players I would also like to thank those fans who made the long journey up to Gateshead last Sunday and we share their disappointment at the postponement of the game.

“We also share the match officials’ view that the pitch was too dangerous to play on and are pleased the well being of our players was first and foremost in this situation.”
