Castleford Tigers have confirmed the departure of young utility player Jordan Thompson.

The 22-year-old Castleford academy product is joining Hull FC for the 2014 season.

Thompson joined the Tigers as a youngster from Normanton Knights and made his senior debut in 2009. He has since gone on to make 72 Super League appearances for Castleford in a variety of positions from full-back and wing to centre and second row, scoring 25 tries.

Tigers head coach Daryl Powell said: “Jordan has been a solid Castleford Tigers player and a big part of our squad. We wish him all the best for the future.”

Chief Executive Steve Gill added: “I signed Jordan as a 16-year-old, so while it is disappointing to see him leave we wish him all the best in his career.

“Meanwhile, we are looking forward to the future ourselves having already replaced Jordan with the strong and versatile Frankie Mariano.”
