New head coach Daryl Powell is weighing up his selection options for his first game in charge of Castleford Tigers with all bar two of his first team squad fit and available for the trip to France to play Catalan on Saturday.

Castleford will be without long term injury victim Jake Webster and in-form second rower Weller Hauraki, who has not recovered from the shoulder injury he picked up in the last game against Hull KR.

But the Tigers have been boosted by the return to fitness of Australian forward Grant Millington while on-loan Warrington back rower Tyrone McCarthy is also in contention to make his Cas debut, giving Powell another option in who to replace Hauraki in the starting line-up.

Powell explained: “I don’t envisage too many changes for the Catalan game.

“But Weller Hauraki’s out with a shoulder injury. Hopefully he’ll be back next week or the week after, but that will be one enforced change.

“Grant Millington is available again. He was not quite ready for the last game, but he is up for selection against Catalan.

“Tyrone McCarthy is in the frame as well. He’d had an illness and Danny (Orr) decided not to put him in against Hull KR, but he’s available for selection.

“I’ve got the first team selection to make and he’s in there as an option.

“There’s just Weller Hauraki and Jake Webster, who’s long term, who are unavailable so I’ve a few decisions to make.

“Webster’s done his cruciate, he’s had his operation and won’t be back for the rest of the season.”
