Castleford Tigers Ladies are busy preparing for an historic inaugural season.
The new season is still some months away, but the ladies are already working hard to try and make their first campaign a memorable one.
With more than 20 girls attending the weekly training sessions, head coach Lindsay Anfield has been impressed with the commitment shown by the players so far.
Former England international Anfield said: “I was really overwhelmed by the response from the young and talented girls, who aspire to play for their local team.
“From the first session, training has been at a high level.
“The commitment and enthusiasm from the girls has been second to none.”
Castleford Tigers launched their women’s team last August and since then everybody at the club has been working hard to fully prepare for the upcoming season.
Pre-season begins in December, but due to the demand from players, training is already under way as the team focuses on strength and conditioning.
The new side will enter the Women’s Premier Division where they will take on the likes of the already well established Bradford Bulls, Featherstone Rovers and current champions, Thatto Heath St Helens.
Lindsay Anfield is hoping that the facilities provided by the Tigers can help the women’s side quickly compete with some of the biggest teams in the country. She said: “I would like to thank the staff at Castleford Tigers for supporting us with our training and for letting us the great facilities at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.”
