Young utility back Ash Robson is delighted to be on the way back to playing for Castleford Tigers after missing the entire 2017 season through injury.

Robson, 21, ruptured a kneecap in a pre-season friendly against Bradford Bulls in January, which left him as a frustrated onlooker in 2016. But he is now back in full training and raring to go as he looks to make an impact next year to add to the two Super League appearances he made on the wing in 2015.

He said: “The knee feels really good. It has been pushed and it feels good, ready to go into the season.

“I can’t wait for the Boxing Day game. Hopefully I’ll get some good game time there. It should be my first game back and I’m really excited.”

Robson added: “It was tough last year, even not being able to train. It’s frustrating that I would have got quite a bit of game time last year, but I couldn’t so hopefully I can crack on this year.

“In 2017 I just want to build more into the team and when the opportunity comes be ready to take it and play well when I do. Whether I’m playing on the wing or at full-back I’ll play wherever I’m put.”
