Six new signings in Cas squad to face Wildcats

CASTLEFORD Tigers coach Terry Matterson has named an almost full strength 19-man squad for Saturday’s opening Super League clash against Wakefield Wildcats at Millennium Magic in Cardiff.

The squad includes new recruits Willis Isa (pictured) Richard Mathers, Nick Youngquest, Jacob Emmitt, Nick Fozzard and newly-appointed captain Danny Orr.

Wakefield’s 19-man squad for Saturday’s match has seven players who are set to make their Super League debuts including signings Josh Vievers, Paul Johnson and Tommy Lee.

Eighteen-year-old England Academy captain Adam Milner is one of four members of Castleford’s squad who are aged 20 or under. The others are prop Jonathan Walker (20), centre Joe Arundel (19), and loose forward Oliver Holmes (18).

Missing out on selection for the Tigers are young centre Jordan Thompson, new signing Martin Aspinwall, forwards Nathan Massey and John Davies (who are both on loan at York) and injured duo Richard Owen (leg) and Ryan McGoldrick (knee).

Castleford’s 19-man squad is: Kirk Dixon, Nick Youngquest, Joe Arundel, Rangi Chase, Danny Orr, Paul Jackson, Ryan Hudson, Craig Huby, Jacob Emmitt, Steve Snitch, Brett Ferres, Stuart Jones, Jonathan Walker, Adam Milner, Willie Isa, Nick Fozzard, Oliver Holmes, Dean Widders.

Wakefield’s squad is Matt Blaymire, Aaron Murphy, Daryl Millard, Luke George, Sam Obst, Michael Korkidas, Julien Rinaldi, Paul King, Kevin Henderson, Dale Ferguson, Glenn Morrison, Tommy Lee, Paul Johnson, Chris Dean, Frankie Mariano, Stuart Howarth, Josh Veivers, Kieran Hyde, Russ Spiers.
