CASTLEFORD Tigers have past the half way mark in their bid for an ambitious target of 5,000 members.

The club already has over 2,500 members for next season and, because of the big demand for memberships, they have decided to extend the deadline for ‘early bird’ prices.

The ‘early bird’ prices will now remain until midnight on December 31. The chance to pay by direct debit on silver or gold memberships has also been extended until the club shop closes this Sunday (December 9).

Tigers chief executive Steve Ferres said: “Our phones and the shop have been inundated with fans who want to sign up before the deadline.

“With 45 per cent of last year’s season ticket holders still yet to renew and following considerable feedback from fans, we felt it was important to extend the date so that these people are given enough opportunity to benefit from the early bird price.

“On behalf of the board and the club as a whole, I would like to thank those fans who have already joined us as members for 2013.

“Their support is integral to the club’s success and I implore anyone who wants to see Castleford Tigers sustain Super League status, to join us as a member next season.”

The Tigers have confirmed the club’s full 2013 squad have signed up to the membership scheme.

Commercial manager Nick Fozzard said, “Steve Ferres and I believe it is important that every member of staff here at the club becomes a member. We and all the administration staff have already joined and now Ian, the players and rest of the coaching staff have signed up too.

“The players recognise how important the scheme is to the club’s future and the support the fans have shown for it so far is another added motivator as they train hard for 2013.”

Newly-appointed club captain Michael Shenton said: “It is a brilliant scheme which is giving our fans more value for money as well as laying great foundations for the club as it looks to build for the future.

“The level of sign up we have received so far is really encouraging – it shows that people are buying in to us as a squad and that is definitely having a positive impact on us in training.”
