CASTLEFORD Tigers pack duo John Davies (pictured) and Nathan Massey have joined newly-promoted Co-operative Championship club York City Knights.
Massey, 21, has joined the Knights on a dual registration and can be recalled to Castleford at any time and 20-year-old Davies has signed a season loan deal with a 48-hour call back option after the first month.
They were both in York’s starting line-up in Sunday’s Northern Rail Cup match at Barrow.
Castleford coach Terry Matterson said: “I felt that Nathan and John both needed some Championship experience and it is good that they are travelling over to the same club together.
“We only have two first grade games in the next month. Going out to York at this stage gives them the opportunity to play four games in that time. Otherwise they would be short of match fitness if and when we needed to select them down the track.
“The first team experience will be massive for both guys and their games will really come on playing at that level.
“It was really important to me that both guys are available to us when need them as they are still important members of our first team squad.
“Both guys will continue to do the majority of their training with us so they will be ready to step up when needed.”
