CASTLEFORD Tigers have confirmed that under 20s academy players Josh Nathaniel (pictured), Joe Pickets and Jonathan Payne have left the club.

Prop forward Payne is staying in Super League with Bradford Bulls while centre or winger Nathaniel and loose forward Pickets have joined Co-Operative Championship side Hunslet Hawks.

Steve Gill, Tigers’ head of youth development, said: “It’s always sad when players leave the club especially when they have given so much for the cause. Unfortunately it is the end of the road in terms of their pursuit of first team football with Castleford, but I would like to thank all three players for their contributions to the under 20s over the past two years.

“I would like to think that they have left the club as better players and enjoyed their time at the Tigers and we wish them well at their new clubs.”

Meanwhile, stand-off Ryan Brierley has agreed a new one-year deal at the club.

“We are discussing the possibilities of dual registration with a Championship club as the next part of his player development plan.” Gill confirmed.
