FORMER Featherstone Lions player Simon Child (pictured) has returned to the club to join the open-age coaching staff in preparation for the new summer season.

Lions are hoping to run two open-age teams this summer. One side will continue in the National Conference League and another will play in the Yorkshire Mens League.

Pre season training begins next Wednesday, January 4 (6pm) in the club’s indoor arena. Old and new will be made welcome.

Any players who cannot attend but are interested in playing for Lions can contact the coach, team manager or club secretary Dick Taylor on 07701033088, 07989078443 or 07900058485.

Featherstone’s first game will be on Saturday, February 4, when they host Askam in the Carnegie Challenge Cup preliminary round.

All players registered last season are eligible to play.

The winners of the Featherstone Lions-Askam game visit Castleford Panthers or Bradford Dudley Hill in the first round.
