The Elite Rugby Academy is staging a second charity BBQ and rugby tournament on Saturday, July 27 at the Castleford Academy sports field, on Pontefract Road.
After the success of last year’s event the academy – run by Castleford Tigers stars turned coaches Ryan Hudson and Danny Orr – will raise money for the Joining Jack and Macmillan Cancer Support charities on a fun day at which there will be a barbecue and rugby tournament for youngsters aged 4 to 13 as well as bouncy castles, a variety of stalls and refreshments.
Super League rugby players are set to attend along with Ryan’s actress sister, Lucy Jo Hudson, and her husband, Alan Halsall (Tyrone from Coronation Street).
The event is open to all and there will be a 30 minute taster session for kids aged 4-13 with a chance to be coached by Super League professionals. Gates open at 11am.
Youngsters at the Elite Academy, meanwhile, have been given a boost with a new kit which has been sponsored by Xamax.
