Ex-Featherstone chief ‘delighted’ to take on role

FORMER Featherstone Rovers chief executive Stuart Sheard has been appointed chairman of the Yorkshire Men’s Rugby League which will kick off its first full season next March.

Sheard (pictured) has a life-long involvement in RL and has held several positions in both the professional and community game including vice chairman of the British Amateur Rugby League Association.

“I was delighted to be asked be take on this role,” said Sheard.

“The move to the new March to November season is a really exciting development within our sport and I firmly believe that for a brighter future as many levels of our game as possible have to be played at the same time.”

The interim Yorkshire season came to a close late last month and the teams will now take a breather before returning to action in March.

“If any other teams would like to join our league they’d be more than welcome,” added Sheard.

“The deadline for applications January 15 so there’s just over a month for teams to decide if they would like to be involved in a the historic first summer season.”
