Death of former Rovers player Marchant

FORMER Featherstone Rovers, Halifax and Hunslet scrum-half Alan Marchant has died aged 75.

His funeral will take place at Pontefract Crematorium next Tuesday (February 19) at noon.

Marchant played 152 matches for Halifax between 1959 and 1964 after they signed him from Featherstone.

He captained Halifax when they won the Yorkshire Cup in 1963

He then joined Hunslet and made 49 appearances for the Parksiders. He played in the 1965 Challenge Cup final at Wembley when they lost to Wigan.
